In Uzbekistan, amendments have come into force expanding the powers of patrol and post service (PPS) officers and prevention inspectors. They can now hold pedestrians accountable for violations of traffic rules.

Under the updated rules, PPS officers are entitled to draw up reports for crossing the road in an unauthorized place, crossing on a red traffic light, and other traffic violations. Previously, such cases as a rule fell under the компетенция of the Traffic Safety Service. Now, supervision on streets and in mahallas will also be carried out by PPS units, which perform duty outside road posts.

In addition, PPS officers have been granted the right to apply measures under Articles 110 and 111 of the Code of Administrative Offenses: for littering and violations of landscaping rules, unsanitary conditions, improper maintenance of areas, and other offenses.
